What exactly are you trying to do via tracking an advertisement?

Are you sending people via an email campaign or a printed advertisement? If it is via email you can configure the URL string to go to a category page and track the campaign in Google analytics - some email marketing programs do this for you (we use Listrak.com).

If you are doing a printed ad - you need to create a landing page for the tracking to work - something needs to be there for either Google Analytics or whatever you are doing to track.

For instance if you create http://www.someurl.com/win as the URL you want people to follow - you need to create http://www.someurl.com/win/Default.aspx (default.aspx is the default page in IIS and navigating to that directory should load that page). Then place whatever info you want on that landing page. If you want to put products on there however - I'm not exactly sure how to do that - and would love to know how to put certain products that are purchasable on a landing page.
