Custom Scriplets

Post by webmistress69 » Mon Jun 08, 2009 8:06 am

OK here's the thing. I have created a new sidebar category to be listed on a page that already exists, I edited the page through the preview to include the new custom side. Why is the custom side being added to all the pages in my "products category" ?

Its becasue all category pages are having same display page. If you want to have something specific to category then first you need to have a different display page for it and then you can make changes related to that page by applying custom scriptlets.

Could you please elaborate on creating a different display page - how to go about doing that and making the new page have the right link.

"different display page for it and then you can make changes related to that page by applying custom scriptlets."

Thanks for the quick response, the things I am trying to get done are time sensitive.

Where would I find the "display" page or script or content or whatever?

If you are logged in as the merchant admin, you will see an Edit Panel at the bottom of your store pages. On the right it will tell you the page being displayed. Change the Mode to Edit Page and it will you the active layout, content scriptlet, etc. which can be customized. You probably want to look through the customization guide, particularly on Customizing Your Pages: http://help.ablecommerce.com/mergedProj ... _pages.htm. Click on the Show link at the upper left to see the table of contents if it doesn't appear.
