Popup Shipping Calculator Without Add To Cart

Hello everyone,

Is there a way to make a popup or in page shipping calculator for products without adding them to the basket? Something like this: http://www.vat19.com/dvds/invisible-playing-cards.cfm


My boss is after me to get this implemented but I cannot find a way to do it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've already had a look at that thread and the one that's linked from that one. I was unable to figure out a way to run a temporary basket through the estimator. I tried to use Joe's code but was running into problems. I was hoping someone else figured it out or could even point me to a paid implementation. I guess I'll keep digging.
