Clean URLs AC 7.0.5?

Post by RKS_213 » Fri Jan 13, 2012 3:22 pm

Are there any simple URLs or places to edit the URL of pages? Someone said it was when you created the page but I have no option to specify any URLs. My defaults come out like /Industries-C164.aspx. Can I change them after I have already created the pages?

Merchant specified URLs was a feature starting with 7.0.6. Before that AC automatically created the SEO-friendly URLs based on the category or product names.

Hmmm /Industries-C164.aspx doesn't look like a very SEO friendly URL at all. Well, I guess I can't do anything about it. Thanks, David.

7.0.6 does have the option for custom URLs which can look nicer, but having Industries-C164.aspx is MUCH better for SEO than category.aspx?categoryid=164. Google and the other search engines now recognize that these are different pages and take into account the text in the URL to determine your page ranking. So the search engines don't really care about the appended categoryID, it's more for users who might be able to remember

http://www.mysite.com/industries

versus
