Server space issues and AbleCommerce data

Good morning,

We were just informed we are at capacity at our hosting company and in an effort to free more space on our server it was requested we contact AbleCommerce to see about clearing up space (1+ Gb I am assuming). The "trouble" is:

1. Not sure what can be safely deleted without affecting our entire website;
2. There is NO "maintenance" link under Configure (which is where I was sent to see about purging old data).

Where did this menu item disappear to? Would it solve my space issues? Short of going through the server file by file, I would love to know if there is an elegant and safe way to clear out old, unused, or redundant data.

Hello Eric,

You can check the \app_data\logs\ folder for any files that can be deleted. I'm not sure which version you are using, but it may be very old.

Yeah. That's where there is a GIG of log files I would love to wipe out but not sure how that impacts the site/data we WANT to keep. What happens if these files are deleted?

They will just regenerate. You can remove them all. The only thing impacted would be user activity reports, but I'm not even sure if you have that feature with your version.

You might want to check the settings for each payment gateway and shipping gateway. If any of them have the debug/logging option enabled, that will dramatically increase the amount of logging to the /App_Data/Logs/ folder.

Debugging/Logging should not be enabled unless you are actively troubleshooting the gateway.
