On Page Editor work with themes?

Hi,
I just noticed that the onpage editor fails to show at bottom of page when logged in with admin if any theme other than the default is selected?
Is this a bug, a design flaw in the theme or something I am doing wrong?
Many thanks,

What you say "on page editor", are you referring to the little notepad-like icon that allows you to directly edit the HTML Scriptlet for that particular zone?

Hi Joe,
I am talking about the onpage editor detailed here:
http://help.ablecommerce.com/mergedProj ... _pages.htm
It appears at the bottom of the catalogue page when you log in as an administrator but it only appears for me when using the ablecommerce default theme. As soon as I change the theme the feature dissapears.

Ahh ok. Thank you for clarifying.
That is an important one for sure. I'm using a custom theme and it appears every time on my site. Now, I copied the default Able theme and modified it to suite my tastes.
First thing to check would be permissions on your user account. I think your user account has to be a member of Admins or Website Admins to see the control.

its a member of website admin. If the theme is default(ablecommerce theme) i can browse through the cart, making alterations to my hearts content. As soon as i select a new theme for the site the on site editor simply dissapears from the bottom of the page. Spooky

If you make changes with the theme set to default, they stay after you switch to your custom theme?

yes, i changed it to 3 columns then changed the theme and it stayed 3 columns but the on page editor vanished.

I swear I remember seeing this exact problem back in Beta or RC1. I tried searching the forums but I can't put my finger on the keywords to find it.
It was something easy to fix it too, which is killing me that I can't remember it or find it for you

Well I've dug through both AC7 forums for some time trying to find what I remembered, but no luck. I think you're going to have to put a ticket in to get Able to get resolve it. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I guess you could try and narrow down if the style.css file is the real cause. You could rename your new theme style.css file to .old and copy the default Able one into your new theme folder. It would at least help narrow down if the style sheet itself is the problem.
Good luck

Its not a custome theme I have made myself but one of the ones that comes with ablecommerce as standard.
Thanks for trying Joe I appreciate it, I'll put the ticket in and post here what I get back.

I have had the edit function disappear, but hadn't noticed when/why it was happening. If I refreshed the page or went to another page and back, sometimes it would show up. I'll try to watch for when it happens the next time.
