Any guesses on what's different about this product page?

Yup. I was taking a beating from visitors because my distributor uses the description to note technical differences between similar items. I had to come up with a solution. Kits wouldn't have helped either. The variant route was just to well suited to the task aside the lack of a variant description.
My original imports could only display the first variations description for all choices, so people were confused on other variant selections because the description no longer matched.
The downside is order to fix all of it, I had to sacrifice my SEO. Product records had to be deleted and all the data had to be re-imported. A hefty price, but it looks elegant now. Especially Holsters and Rifle Barrels - those categories were a complete disaster. Now they're very well organized, all electronically without my staff cleaning them up manually.
I'll rebuild other categories as I find them. At least it's the way I want it now...this has been bugging me for months.

I'm missing something. Why wouldn't these just be separate products? Is it because of the way the info/SKU comes from the manufacturer?

correct, but a category with 15 rifle barrels and each barrel has 9 variations it gets alot more important.

The problem becomes more apparent in certain categories. The example I cited was purely for demonstration purposes.
My Firearm Accessories/Holsters category is the worst. There are only like 14 different holsters. But several holsters come in 12+ different sizes. If I make everything a separate product page, the category gets huge and customers have a hard time finding what they want.

That's how my old cart worked, the descriptions would update upon variant selection.
But for SEO reasons, I think I'm going to have all my descriptions static this year, search engines don't find the ajax stuff. I can't wait to get source code, I already have it all planned out how to do it.
