Layout changes don't stay

Post by kubeldave » Fri Jul 04, 2008 10:37 pm

I am making changes to my site layout and after a few minutes, the changes are gone and the site goes back to the way it looked before I made the changes.

I am moving scriplets from the left column to the right column. After saving the changes, the site looks the way I want it. If I go back to the site after about 10 minutes, the site goes back.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks for the suggestion. It turned out to be a problem with permissions. I checked the error log in the Admin section and it referenced the file/folder that couldn't be modified.

I used to be able to modify the pages fine until the permissions changed. The only problem is that I didn't change the permissions. Has anyone else experienced a situation where the permissions changed by themselves?

I have one client where it happens and I suspect it is when he unzips files from an upgrade zip. I think there is a setting he is missing in his un-archive utility that overwrites the permissions on his install folder. For some reason, the permissions don't propagate down to the new files and I have to logon and make it do that.
