I'm referring to the ability to select a checkbox on multiple products and click on a "Compare" button. This would then generate a table with the selected products in the column headers and a (configurable) list of product attributes in the rows (or vice versa). I see this feature on a quite a few stores, although it's obviously not applicable to all product types.

Here's a good example of this:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/browse/all ... N=5+10570/

You can check off the compare checkmarks and click the compare button towards the top of the product grid. It will compare all attributes of the products that they have in common.

I would love to see this for product templates. The compare function can just extract the product input fields that the products have in common (same name), then just list it in a table. Simple but powerful for the user experience.

I am surprised it is still a feature we need to pay for and is not coming out of the box. Weird though...
