Better Separation of Dataport Users

Post by ZLA » Mon May 11, 2009 9:19 am

I recommend creating separate dataport users. Dataport allows the manipulation of the following information:
  • Categories
  • Products
  • Orders
  • Users
Dataport should only require Catalog Admins or better for the first two, Order Admins for the third. It is only the fourth item that requires Admin or Super User rights. In no case does a does it look like a dataport user needs to be a Website Admin.

In my case, I have to give my client a super user login so they can work with the dataport utility but I would prefer it to be separate from their normal every day admin login so they don't run the risk of modifying page layouts when viewing the store.
