The catalog mode removes all of the add to cart buttons but people can still click the add to wishlist buttons and then add the items to the cart from the wishlists page..so catalog mode is pretty worthless the way it is setup. So I went in and disabled the wishlists page..and I am still getting orders!!!

Can we get a easily switched mode that closes the store while still allowing people to browse the site please?

It looks like in 7.0.4 adding to wishlists is turned off when in catalog mode. This wont stop people from ordering items already in carts or wishlists though.

I like to shut down my store sometimes but still allow people to browse so I would like the catalog mode to work better is all..
