Feature suggestion - customer refill reminders

Post by mitch » Thu Dec 13, 2007 2:20 pm

Hi guys

I have a suggested feature for a future release:

Allow merchants to define 'refill' periods for (consumable) products. Rather than a subscription-type recurrent billing, this could just send an email to applicable customers reminding them that their consumable product was about to run out and to come back to the store to buy more.

Lord could I use that one!

I use product templates to obtain the starting month/year for my "refill" products. Then I wrote a program that scans AC_Orders for just those items, computes the renewal/refill date and then compares to the current month/year.
If the refill is due, it generates an email to the customer reminding them of the refill.
It'd be nice to track renewals from year to year, but that's alot of design work and I don't have the time right now. Maybe next year....
