change "add to cart" to "out of stock"

Having the "add to cart" button change to say "out of stock" instead of letting a customer add a item and then they just get the little error message at the top of the shopping cart page would be very nice.
Also why does it say "add to cart" on one page and "add to basket" on others? Make up your mind is it a cart or a basket!!
