Improvements to Copy Product command.

Post by nborelli » Sun Feb 03, 2008 12:42 pm

It would be nice if when we clicked on the copy product icon, it wasn't immediately added to the database as a public product. It would be better if it would put us in the product details screen with all of the fields from the old product filled it, but the the item won't be in the database yet. (available to customers)

Since that seems like it would be really hard, I think a simple thing to do would be to copy the product, but make the new product hidden or private until we have had a chance to edit it.

Thanks,

Also, I just noticed that the copy command also copies the CreatedDate out of the old record. That just doesn't seem right.

Ideally this would have a default value in the database and never be written by specified in an INSERT statement, but I don't know how dates are stored. At first glance it looks to be a UTC date (default column value of GETUTCDATE() in SQL Server)
