I'm just trying to claify the extent of the built-in search control. Does it only search product information or will it search website content that it put it via the catalog/webpage option?

I'm trying to figure out whether it would be easier to implement something like Google's search so that it will index page content or if the built-in search will accomplish enough of what I need to stick with it.

Currently the advanced search only does products, I'll move this to feature requests and we'll get it changed so their is an option like in 5.5 to search categories and webpages.

Does the AC 7 Search of a phrase need to find an exact match or does it also looks for the words independent of one another. Does it give weight to the title first or are all words treated equally.


If you searched for:

Able Commerce Search Function

and your web site document had the words:

Able Commerce 7.0 Function
and not the word Search ... would it still return a result? Or would it need to see all the words in the phrase and or the exact words in the phrase as written and in the order as written?

I think it would also be a great feature to have this be available in the simple search. Could there be 2 radio buttons with the simple search, one for Product and one for website content. Obviously this would not help everyone, but I think it would be helpful to a lot of us. Maybe we could just figure out how to hand code this in for those of us that need it.
