Back Order / Pre-Order

Post by SamsSteins » Wed Jul 23, 2008 2:55 pm

I was wondering if there is a way to flag that an item is out of stock, but to still allow orders to be placed. We have quite of few items that we offer preorders on or back orders. Currently, it seems if an item is flagged to allow back orders it gives no indication to the customer. I have been through this set-up in the past (with another shopping cart) and it causes quite a bit of problems with customers, having to email them to notify them that an item is not in stock. It is also my understanding is some states it is illegal not to notify the customer that the item is not in stock when they place their order, at least that is what a customer from Florida told me :D.

Thanks,
Samantha

Another great request.

I would like to see this with an optional date right beside it.. that way you could let the customer know exactly.

Putting a note in the product description is what I have done in the past, it would just make life simpler if it could be tied into the inventory system. Instead of having to deal with updating descriptions all the time, at some point I will forget to update one. :)

I'm not selling it! I would like that developers of the cart include it in it!

I do not change discripion of the product! If the admin uncheck the box in Manage Variants of the product I checking it and show on site that that Variants is backordered or out of stock!
