Manufacturer image

It would be nice if the Manufacturer table / Business Object has some additional properties like Categories currently have. I could use a Thumbnail, Summary, Description and HTML Head but I would settle for just the Thumbnail and Description.

I want to create a modified version of the search page that will display information about the manufacturer when searching by manufacturer like we currently do for categories.

Also, if we could have an SEO-friendly URL, I believe that is very important.

Along with your request please give us some ideas of where/how it would be put to use in the display of the store?

You could create an easy control to display all manufacturer logos in the Summary section of each category display page. The manufacturer logo "repeater" would be specific to the manufacturers included in that category.

That way each category has visual association for the specific manufacturers involved in that specific category.

It could also be represented in thumbnail size on the categorygrid controls and buyproductdialog controls as a replacement to the text manufacturer name. Again, leveraging brand awareness and corporate visibility already generated by the manufacturers marketing efforts. Same for search results page.

Layout/size would have to be somewhat strict to ensure consistency across the various display pages and controls. Otherwise it's going to be a bear to keep the pages from looking chaotic with various manufacturer logo image sizes.

I agree, at the very least it would be nice to be able to associate an image with a manufacturer using the admin tool.
