Verify Shipping Address

Post by kastnerd » Tue Jan 06, 2009 10:51 am

A system that would verify the shipping address is a valid address, Also would check if the address is commercial or residential.

Fedex web tool offers Address Validation. Attached is the PDF
go to http://www.fedex.com/us/developer/index.html and sing up for a developer account then go to "FedEx Web Services for Shipping "

No UPS dose not offer any online tool for shipping address.
I would think if we got 1 thing to verify the address when the user enters there address. Then the correct address will be stored in the database. And could be used for UPS, Fedex or USPS.

There is another option is http://www.endicia.com/ Stone Edge uses endicia to check address for free.

Majority of our UPS exceptions causing a delay in delivery are for missing or bad apartment or suite numbers. Our UPS rep says address validation is not smart enough to know when apt. no. is needed.

We had similar problems with UPS and Fedex's services before that is why we had to turn to this address validation web service. A no-brainer decision if you weigh the benefits.

We have implemented UPS Address validation as a ConLib control that you can use on OnePageCheckout or any other page where address can be entered. For example EditBillAddressPage, EditShipAddressPage and EditMyAddressPage.
