Google and the Navigation treeview or flyout menus?

Though this might be interesting to some of you. I used the tree view on my site for about a year and switched to the flyout view for the last 6 months using the latest code listed on this page. I went from being in the first couple google ranking in several categories to being nonexistant when I went to the flyout menu. I don't mean on page 10. I mean gone. I changed to hard coding my navigation and dumped component art all together and in 2 weeks my rankings are back. I also added web2market SEO manager at the same time and the directory plug in from web2market at the same time, but I think the drastic on and off with google search results is from the navbar. I wold be interested to see what others have found.

I tried the flyout menu on my son-in-law's site when he switched to Able 7 from Able 5. He dropped 30 ranks in Google and when I took it back off, he came right back up again. (He went back to a hardcoded left nav like he had in Able 5)
It wouldn't have been the SEO Manager. I upgraded www.thegpsstore.com from Able 5 to 7 about a year ago and they have top rankings for some things in Google. I was concerned that they would drop because I had seen Able 5 to Able 7 sites drop some, but with the SEO Manager, he stayed the same. We even waiting until after Christmas to go live with Able 7 because of those concerns, but they didn't develop.
The ComponentArt Menu (flyout) does have an attribute for search engines
ForceSearchEngineStructure="True"

Hope I did not confuse it. I added SEO manager when I switched to the hard coding. SEO manager may have helped my ranks too, but turning off the component art nave bar fixed it like a switch turning my site back on.
