** I'm reposting this article because I accidentally posted in the "VAT tax not currently supported and UK processors." thread. ***

I am launching my first AC website next week so pardon my ignorance if the this questions doesn't makes sense. Any clarification on this topic is welcomed.

My client is currently experiencing issues shipping products with UPS to countries outside of the US. They must fill out tax ID forms on behalf of customers purchasing products from their existing site.

I welcome your comments from people with actual e-commerce stores shipping internationally.

Thanks,
Gio

If you're using UPS, contact them and get a copy of WorldShip. It is their shipping software. We use it in conjunction with our current systems and it will print the necessary documentation. You can manually enter the shipping information or you can export/import text files.

Wylie,

what are you doing in order to calculate duties and taxes for your customers, anything? I'm looking for a solution to display the full landed cost to the customer before they checkout.

We do not work out the customs/duties for our customers. Those are their responsibility. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. Since customs change from country to country, you may need to find a specialist.

I think the UPS site might have that information kept up to date.

they do, but AbleCommerce doesn't really have a way to display it to a customer and add it to a product's cost based on the location it's being shipped to. I'm waiting to hear back from http://eshopworld.com/ to see what their product truly is and how it integrates. It seems like it's what I want but I fear it's going to cost more than it's going to be worth. We'll see.
