I am currently running a demo version locally. We have the store set up and it is running fine.
I really want to demo the Dataport tool. I have tried downloading and installing all 3 versions, but whe I try to execute it I get "Ablecommerce dataport has stopped working"
We are running it on Vista Ultimate.

Any idea's

Matt - I've never seen that message (and I've used all 3 versions), but I've never tried it on Vista either. Vista does strange things--mostly because of UAC and DEP. You might try running DataPort as an administrator or temporarily disabling UAC and/or DEP.

If you have a computer with XP or Windows Server 2003, those will almost certainly work better.

Thanks Andy,
I didn't think of running it as administrator.
That did the trick!

After installing DataPort.7.6.248 on a Windows 7 desktop in a 7.0.1 store, I get this error message on the desktop, "AbleCommerce DataPort has stopped working". I have uninstalled, then logged on as Administrator and reinstalled the msi. Still I get the stopped working message. Any ideas?

I have the problem with Windows 7 too. Try Troubleshoot Compatibility.

Has anyone gotten the dataport MSI to work on a desktop/laptop running ASP.NET 4.0?

Yes, I have it running on Windows 7 with .net 4.0 installed. I don't remember doing anything special to get it to work.
