After having no luck manually importing my category structure into AC, I have been trying the DataPort utility. We are using version 7.0.2. I was able to get a proper CSV of the data from the old database, and attempted an upload. The upload was successful, and when I checked the AC database, all of my data was there. However, I experienced a rather strange problem. Only about 25% of the Parent/Child relationships were retained.
Is this a common problem with category importing? Is there any way to ensure the relationships are retained when inserting 100% new data?
Thank you

Did any of your categories have comma in them? That can cause a problem.

Re: Category Structure Does is not retained
All commas(,) and quotes(") were escaped properly. I have a hunch that the problem lies in the "Batch" upload process the DataPort utility uses. As it does 50 at a time, each round fails to find some of the associations, and cannot map the CategoryId to ParentId, but then as the process nears the end, the majority of the categories are in place, and it can map the relationships properly.
Can anyone confirm this hunch?

My hunch was correct, and I found the solution at the above link. Resetting the batch size worked!
