500 Internal Server Error when trying to connect

Post by CraigH » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:40 am

I have a fresh demo of 7.0.3 installed to shared hosting environment. I don't have any products or any customizations done to the store.

I installed DataPort to my computer, followed instructions for getting the 2 DLL files onto the server. I verified I'm using the 7.0.3 version of files.

When connecting, I get a 500 Internal server error.

I verified it is getting the correct server by changing the hostname. I tried changing the path location and get a 500: internal server error no matter what URi I try.

Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to troubleshoot this more?

Please try these:

1. Make sure you have only a single instance for each of "CommerceBuilder.DataClient.Api.dll" and "CommerceBuilder.DataClient.Csv.dll" dll files in your store BIN directory. Make sure no re-named or duplicate copy exists for any of dll files.

2. If every thing else is OK then REMOVE the above two files from your store BIN directory and re-upload.

I just now see that there was this response.
I have deleted and re-uploaded the 2 files. Still getting the same issue.

I have opened a support case.

Do you have any copies of the DLLs still residing in the \bin\ folder? For example, did you make a backup copy of a DLL, but leave it in the bin folder.

Thanks,
Katie

I didn't have any extra copies in that folder. In the past I did, but I removed them.

Today I removed both of those dll files, then re-uploaded them making sure there weren't any duplicate copies.

Does anything on the server need to be "reset" at all to use a new dll?

I'm using http://IP_ADDRESS/ClientApi/ClientApiService.ashx for the location and verified I have a super admin account with the correct username/password.

Is there anything special I need to be aware of if this is in a shared hosting environment?

Is your store working properly? I mean other then DataPort API service? If your store is running then post the version info from:

Admin -> Help -> About AbleCommerce page.

Please try to to browse the Client API service url in your browser. And post the response here.

Just to follow up with this issue. It was an issue with the firewall on the server. .ashx services were allowed, but then denied in the same configuration. That was the crux of the entire issue.
