Users Migrated from 5.5 - Uppercase Emails

Hello -

We've migrated our store from 5.5 to 7.0.3, and users that had email addresses or usernames with uppercase characters can only be found in the users screen when you type their email address exactly how it was entered in AC 5.5. In doing some research in the following thread (viewtopic.php?f=61&t=11808), it appears as though there is a new field in the ac_users table that automatically updates the email to be all lowercase. This field is empty for all users brought over from 5.5. Should we update all of the email addresses/usernames in our database to be lowercase, or just copy them to this LoweredEmail field and convert those to lowercase?

I think the 2nd option is better.
