Product CSV - Categories Column Fails to Overwrite

Hi,

I am using the dataport to download my Products, and re-arrange large groups into new categories. The categories are already setup, and I am just changing the naming convention to the new categories.

When I upload the csv, everything is fine except it does not overwrite the categories column, instead it adds to the old cateogory.

For example:

Old Category= Home:Category1:Subcategory123
Change to new Category = Home:Category1:Subcategor456

Upload*

System now shows:
Home:Category1:Subcategor456,Home:Category1:Subcategory123

How can I just get this column to overwrite and not add together???

It will not be possible overwrite the categories information this way with the current version of DataPort. From the above description I think your goal is to move the products from OLD CATEGORIES to NEW CATEGORIES? If yes, then in AbleCommerce 7.4 we have a new buld move feature on admin side and can help you in this issue.

However if you just need to rename your categories in bulk, export the categories data in CSV format and after changing the names re-import with the update only option. Just select the CategoryId field as custom match field instead of using the default match fields for category.
