Import of store causes resend of order confirmation emails

I exported a 7.03 store using the 7.04 dataport. When importing the store to a new 7.04 site, all order confirmation emails were resent. This caused a major issue since customers who received these emails thought a new order had been placed in their name. Some of these customers were very irate.

How do I import an entire store without these emails being sent?

You have to take the email settings out temporarily. I learned that the hard way.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up importing selected data and unselecting store settings. That worked but yours is a better solution; I just need to find a time to remove the email settings until I export the store.

After installation, do not setup your email server settings prior to importing.
