No User Available for Import(Upload)

Post by sdf » Mon Jun 07, 2010 2:57 pm

Hello,

I am trying to import users from a previous store (not able commerce) to able commerce using data port 7.4.

First of all when I open data port I get a waring that: 'Your store configurations are not saved.' I cannot figure out what store configurations are not saved or what this is referencing.

Second of all I have exported the users from the previous store into a CSV file using the following fields:

StoreID
UserName,
FirstName,
LastName,
Email,
IsApproved,
IsLockedOut,
PasswordPlainText,
Address1,
Address2,
City,
PostalCode,
Province,
CountryCode,
Phone

I am able to point DataPort at the CSV and it maps the fields accordingly. However when I do to import/upload the data I get a error stating that: 'No User available for Import(Upload).'. It is not clear if this error message refers to the fact that the tool thinks I am missing fields to import or there is something wrong with the user I am trying to use to import the data with, or if this has something to do with the warning about store configurations when I open the tool.

I have tried turning on the debugging feature in DataPort but I do not seem to get a log file or anything to use to debug.

Also I have attempted to set the UserId to 0 for new users to no avail.

What am I doing wrong here?

Also this is from the able commerce store:

As a side note running the data port utility as an administrator got rid of the configuration saving error (win7 x64).

Yes, the DataPort tries to save the settings in a config file but I think it fails because not having write access to local file system in C drive.
'No User available for Import(Upload).'.
This particular error indicates that there is something wrong with your Users CSV data. There might be some syntax error in CSV raising this issue. So, please manually review the CSV file or try to open it in MS Excel and fix any CSV syntax issues. I think the CSV data might be missing some delimiter or quote character etc.

It'd be nice if the tool would make trouble shooting a bit easier when I have thousands of lines of a CSV file to review. Such as saying it cannot parse line number x.

I actually broke my csv file into smaller and smaller chunks trying to find this bad data. It appears that it was quotation marks inside 1 field, it also appears that the tool is splitting the file on quotation marks are not commas. As I can get the offending line to upload when it is on a single line but it breaks things out into different fields.

I finally narrowed this down to 3 lines in a CSV file which will not upload. However when broken out into 3 separate files, it uploads fine. So really it would be nice to have more verbose error messages from the tool.

These lines will not upload when all together....password are removed...bolded line has extra quotes in the Address1 field

broken out files that work...

Line that uploads when on a single line but not with others

If you set the chunk size under Options--> Settings to 1, you can step thru the import one record at a time.
