Data Port Has Stoped Wroking

Post by Jaz » Sat Jul 03, 2010 3:36 pm

I just purchased a new computer and installed Dataport. Whe I try to run the progran, I just get the Error "AbleCommerce DataPort has Stoped Working"

I am running a 64 bit windows 7. Are there any known issues with this setup?

Thanks,

Which version of DataPort application you are using?

You can download the latest available version from:
viewtopic.php?f=61&t=13423&start=0

And please try to post more details related to the issues you are facing. Also please look at this thread for some discussion related to a similar issue:
viewtopic.php?f=61&t=11427

Try to run it with Administrator user and check if your Anti-virus Software is not blocking the DataPort?

I am running the newest version.

There is not a lot to tell. I try to launch the program. I get the error box:

"AbleCommerce DataPort has Stoped Working"

I close the error box and that is it. The program never opens.

Thanks,

I use the DataPort on Vista 64 bit with no issues, but you're quite likely the first person to try it on the new V7 64 bit platform. Check your application event logs to see if there is any information that might help our developers isolate the issue.

Were you ever able to get an answer on this problem? I'm having the same issue with my new laptop running Windows 7 64-bit.

Thanks.

Hello,

Can you please give me detail information on how to check the application event logs? I have no idea how to do this in Windows 7.

When I run the troubleshooter, it states "Incompatible Application"

Regards,
Tachia

If this is a software issue with Windows 7, please let us know. Is Able commerce doing anything to correct the problem?

It sounds like we will have to get Windows 7 online for testing. In the event this gets you going faster, is this of any help?

http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/lin ... aqid=20607

I wonder if you could follow the same steps and make Dataport compatible to run on windows 7.
Cheers,

Logan,

Thanks for your response. I've tried several different ways to try to get it to work.

Besides Dataport, is there any other way to get a copy of the data?

I'm sure the hosting company will refer me back to the forum.

I just switched to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and the dataport is working fine for me- I've only tried product download.
I do have UAC turned off in Windows.

I turned off UAC and it did not make any difference.

I am having the exact same issue. The second I launch dataport, I get an error message that says it has stopped working.

I am using W7 Pro with all the lastest updates on a 64 bit I7 processor.

I may see if I can install it under virtual XP and use it there.

Well, I didn't have any luck with virtual XP mode either. Installer kept telling me I didn't have .net installed, but I do, so I was not able to install it.

***** RESOLVED THE VIRTUAL XP ISSUE*********
I had .net 4 installed. Installed 3.5 and it worked fine. My Issues with W7 on 64 bit machine remain.

Hello,

Make sure that Microsoft .Net Framework is being enabled on your Windows 7 computer. I can also confirm that the DataPort work on Windows 7 64 bit (we use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit) on
all development machines.

Control Panel -> Programs And Features -> Turn Windows Features On of Off

My .net is enabled on 64 bit W7 (version 3.5.1). I am still getting the same error when I try to start the dataport connector.

Hi Dean,

- Start the Dataport and after you get the error go to:
- Control Panel ->Administrative Tools
- click on Event Viewer
- Select Windows Logs -> Application
- Check for any entries created after the Dataport reported an error
- You can also check the Custom Views -> Administrative Events for any other errors related to Dataport

I am glad you posted this. I had been Googling trying to find the error logs but had no luck because I was looking for asp.net error logs.... here is what I found:

The logs indicated that it was a permission error.

When I used Control+shift to start the program, it works fine (I didn't know about Control+shift until I did some research). There is no option to run as admin when you right click on the program link in the start bar, which is what I am used too. In fact, it is the first thing I looked for when the error popped up. If I had known about the using control=shift to force a program to run as admin from the start, I would have been way ahead on solving the problem.

I assume there is a way to change the program to run without using the control+shift, but I don't know how to do it.

Thanks for taking the time to help

Dean

Hi Dean,

- go to the DataPort folder : C:\Program Files (x86)\AbleCommerce\AbleCommerce DataPort xxx
- select the DataPort application, right click and select Copy
- go back to your desktop right click and select Paste Shortcut (this will create DtaPort shortcut on your desktop)
- right click on the shortcut Icon and select properties
- click Advanced
- select Run as Administrator Checkbox

I guess this only happens on W764. I installed on my W732 machine and there was no issue getting the program to launch as installed.

On my W764 machine, I just copied the link back to my quick launch area by right clicking it in the AbleCommerce folder and dragging it back to the quick launch area. Then I was able to add the check mark in the program properties to run as Admin.

Wow, Mike thank you for the update.

This worked for me. I've been having issues with this since I got my new system with Windows 7. I can't beleive no one with Able Commerce was able to help with this issue.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE UPDATE SO THAT I CAN FINALLY GET DATAPORT TO WORK INSTEAD OF USING TWO COMPUTERS.

I have a new dataport error using Windows 7. I had new issues with dataport and removed/reinstalled and now I'm getting the same "Able Commerce Dataport is Not Working" error as before. This is the error that appears in the application error log:

If the KERNELBASE.dll is generating exceptions that means OS system related issues. Try to completely uninstall DataPort, reboot your machine and run ccleaner against your computer registry.
