AbleCommerce Shopping Cart Software

Hello. We are new to AbleCommerce. I have data from another Ablecommerce Site that was exported using the Dataport utility.

We downloaded the latest version of the Dataport Utility and installed it on our local computer. We then move the API files to their respective directories on the remote server that is running AbleCommerce. On the first run of the DataPort Utility from the desktop of my local computer we immediately get a "AbleCommerce DataPort has stopped running" message on our screen. I turned off all firewalls and retried with the same result. I also uninstalled the program and re-downloaded it from the AbleCommerce site. and Re-installed it. The same error occurred.

I am installing it on the following computer.
HP Pavilion Slimline
350 MB of unused Disk Space.
AMD X2 Processor
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit operating system.

These HP machines do run a 32 Bit loader to operate the HP stuff so it sometimes looks like some form of Hybrid.

It seems obvious that the install is not working properly on my computer.
Has anyone had any problems like this

Tried again on a different windows7 64 bit machine with same result. Installed no problem on two XP machines. Is this a compatiblilty problem with Windows 7 64 bit?

I am currently running DataPort on 64 bit windows 7. Tell you what... there is a new version of DataPort being published:

Do you want to give the 7.7.251 build a whirl and see if the error is the same? You will have to uninstall the 7.6 build of dataport first.

thanks for the information. I downloaded the new version. uninstalled the old version, installed the new version and got the same result. First thing that happens when I try to run the problrm is I get the AbleCommerce DataPort has stopped running" I turned off my ZoneAlarm firewall to see if it was the problem and it made no difference. So.... unless you have some other ideas, I guess I'll blow the dust off of my old XP machine and run the software on it.

I am having this exact same problem. I have just downloaded and installed the latest (7.7) DP. Can someone come up with a solution pls?

Why do we have this dataport anyway? Surely it would make sense to build it into the AC interface. There seems to be constant problems with the DP.

Sorry, not sure what you mean by Compatibility Mode. I cant even get it to start up, I simply get the "AbleCommerce DataPort has stopped running" message telling me it has stopped running before it has started to run.

Sorry I should have posted the instructions... Thanks Naveed. What I am looking for is confirmation yes or no - does compatibility mode solve the issue? I haven't been able to reproduce it here, using similar OS environment. Though I don't have a machine with an AMD processor. Without being able to reproduce, it's hard for me to troubleshoot and I need feedback.

I am going to publish a debug build of dataport to you. I would like to sort out why it has trouble launching on certain machines. Perhaps we can get a better error message.

One of the machines I tried on was an intel i3 processor with the same result...so I am not sure it is a AMD vs Intel problem. As I mentioned before we have now tried 4 machines 3 were AMD 64 bit and 1 was Intel 64 bit. The three AMD machines were runing window7 premium (or whatever they call the enterprise thingy) and the Intel machine was running Window7 home.

We have it working on some machines but not others. Can anyone tell me what port number the Dataport uses? Our client needs to open it up in their firewall.
