DataPort 7.7 Error

Post by pegasusshoes » Tue Apr 26, 2011 8:23 am

I installed DataPort.7.7.251 I get the following when opening up the program
dataport-error.gif
I'm running a 64 bit version of vista home premium. I even uninstalled this version and used the debug version then rebooted and still getting the same error.

It installed and ran fine on my xp machine at the office but I need to use this at home as well.

I just went into the event viewer and this is what i found

I am having the exact same problem on Windows 7 64bit Home Edition.

Doesn't load up, doesn't do anything. I have reinstalled it several times and it seems to install just fine but when I go run the program it just crashes with the above display window.

Thanks

Try running DataPort as administrator. You can set up the desktop icon to do this automatically by:

1. Right-click on the DataPort shortcut on your desktop
2. Click on the Compatibility tab
3. Check "Run this program as an administrator"
4. Click OK to save

When you double-click on the desktop shortcut it will confirm that you want to run as administrator, but then the app should work properly.

Great! That seemed to work for me, not sure why it would need me to do that though. My user name is the Admin for the computer.

If that doesn't work for anyone, try clicking the 'Run in in compatibility mode" (like instructed above) but in an older version of Windows, like XP.

Thanks David.
