Deleting products from XML or CSV

Is there a way to delete products using the XML or CSV uploads?

No, but you can move the products to a new category, then delete the new category and all of the products in the category.

First, export products in .CSV format using Dataport, open the file in excel or open office, replace the categories field of the products you want to delete with a new category (i name the new category "items to delete"), then reimport the .csv file using dataport, with the UPDATE mode feature, which should replace the existing category with the new category name called "items to delete".

Next, using your internet browser, log in to the admin side, display your product catalog, click on the new category you created, called "items to delete", then click on one of the items to view it in product edit. Then from the left menu click on categories to verify if the item is in multiple categories, or just the new "items to delete" category.

you may want to check multiple products just to clarify that they only exist in the new "items to delete" category. If you are certain that all of the products that you re-imported are only in the new category, then you can remove all of the products from your store by deleting the category called "items to delete"

note: "items to delete" is the name i chose to call the new category. but you can call it anything you want.
