This seems some versioning problem. I think you have not updated your store correctly. Can you please confirm copy paste your AbleCommerce versioning information here?

I tried it and didn't get an error, but it added them to another category instead of moving them.
Here is what I did:
Downloaded 9 products from a category
Changed the category in the spreadsheet to a different category
Uploaded that file.
Categories in the .csv downloaded were:
Paintball:Barrels:Barrels by Gun:Angel Barrels

I changed to
Paintball:Barrels:Barrels by Gun:Autococker Barrels

They are now in both categories, so I guess you can't move them with the Dataport csv

I downloaded and installed the Dataport 19 and it looks like it is still not handling ESD files. I exported an ACMX 5.5 store and imported it to an AC7 store and it appears that the ESD files were not imported even though the ESD.txt file was created and there were no errors in the log. I checked the ac_DigitalGoods and ac_ProductDigitalGoods tables after the import and they are both empty so it seems that no ESD information was imported.

This particular client has over 1100 ESD files and we desperately need to get them imported to the AC7 store; there are far too many to manually redo. If the Dataport is not going to handle them, can Able supply a script to migrate them to the 7.0 release? If not can you give us a list of all AC7 tables that need updated for digital goods and, if possible, their 5.5 equivalents so we can write our own script.

This is an important feature that the Dataport needs to handle. I have a number of clients that use digital goods, some that have already been upgraded, and have vehemently complained about the need to manually redo all their digital goods. When might we expect the Dataport to handle them?

I tried to attach my XML file but the upload never completed (it is about 60mb) so if you need it, I can either try again or make it accessible on one of my ftp sites.

The import also missed importing a large number of products. The 5.5 products table contains 1434 products and the 7.0 table has only 1077.

I uploaded the XML file for your review.

Hello Mary,

I'm unable to find a bug report on this, when and how was this reported?
I downloaded and installed the Dataport 19 and it looks like it is still not handling ESD files. I exported an ACMX 5.5 store and imported it to an AC7 store and it appears that the ESD files were not imported even though the ESD.txt file was created and there were no errors in the log. I checked the ac_DigitalGoods and ac_ProductDigitalGoods tables after the import and they are both empty so it seems that no ESD information was imported.

That's correct. I downloaded the new release because the prior one didn't work with ESD files, which I believe has been reported previously, hoping it would handle them.

Since it didn't I need some resolution to get the digital goods moved over since this site can't go live without them.

Did the missing ones have kits? It might not do kits yet.

I don't believe this site uses kits. I suspect the missing products are ones that have names too long to fit into the new size specification for the product names. He has some products with really long names. In older Dataports, I got an error message and had to fix the length of the title but I suspect the new Dataport is just skipping them.

I'm going to run a compare tomorrow and see if my hunch is correct.

Hello Mary,

When final is release the product title field has been expanded back to 255 char's. So that issue should be gone.

Yes the ESD import for AC5x is not yet supported. And the missing products might be ESD products..

Can you please share your AC55 data with us so that we can examine what products are missing and what is causing this issue?

Naveed,

I had trouble uploading the XML file so I zipped it and emailed it to you.

We did find out one thing. A query of the old database shows 357 products that have names longer than 100 and this matches the number of missing products. I am going to restore the database, increase the name field in the db to 255 and try the import again.

I exported my AC 5.5 .net data and the only option I have is to export all the data to an xml file. I did this through the 5.5 admin interface Setup>Data Transfer>Export Data.

I then go to Store Upload in the Data Port tool. Browse to the xml created in the steps above. I select IMPORT new.

It says it is done but I dont see any of the info in the new store.

I suppose you have choosen AC5x import option. If you are using the DataPort vs. .19 then
please :
1. Have you manually verified the exported XML file and all the expected exported data is there?
2. If AC55 xml file is Ok, then you can enable Extra debug option and this will save all import log in smaller chunk log files. Then please check that log and see what errors are registered during import. Is all log Ok and showing all data is imported successfully?

By enabling the extra debug options shows that about 357 products import fails due to some SQL truncation error. Although my database field length for product name is 255 but those products still failed to import... May be some other lengthy database field is causing this issue. Will post the exact problem after some more debugging..

Naveed, I think there is a post elsewhere in the forum about a couple of other fields that need to be increased >255 characters, like the image alt tag field.

Your file versions seems to be OK. And AbleCommerce Hosting and Development are handled by two saperate departments...
mkeith1 wrote: Also, as a side note, since AC7 is in final release, did the Name field get lengthened to 255 characters?
Yes the Product Name field is lengthened to 255 characters in the final build. However the SQL truncation error can occur if any of your AC55 field length exceeds then the respective AC7 field lenght.

The SQL error you are facing is strange, and I think there is still some inconsistancy at your store, may be the database is inconsistant or is not updated properly...

You can run database upgrade on your store by following these steps:

1. Navigate the following URL at your store : http://[YOURSTORE.COM]/Install/Upgrade.aspx. You will be able to do this if the Install folder is still there and not yet removed..

2. Follow the instructions on the Upgrade.aspx page to run database upgrade routines on your store.

You can get read the ReadMe instructions for database upgrade as well..
Please let me know if it is not fixed even after running database upgrade

Perhaps upgrading to final release may solve this issue on your store..
Read this for how to upgrade to 7.0 final.

Hi

Is there any possibility that you will include better support for variants in the CSV export? I ask because at the moment, you export products in CSV, but not a line per variant.

Where this would be useful is inventory management - a client could download a csv file with one line for each varaint, update the inventory level for that variant in Excel and then reupload the csv file.

Right now, the only way to achieve this is to download as XML - which isn't exactly a friendly format for a client to use. Sure, we could write a utility to do this, but I just figure that it would be easier for you guys to do this as part of the CSV export/import functionality.

I have several clients who sell fashion items and they rarely have products that don't have variants (they either have size or colour options), and they may have several thousand product lines. Managing inventory one at a time is pretty laborious, and most clients are really comfortable working in Excel.

All the Best

Tony

You can use the dataport if you use the dropdown menus.
