I just remembered I have a test site with that same hoster. I just tried it and it didn't work either. I'll check with them to see if something is blocking the program.

I had this same problem months ago and reported it to Mike. We couldnt figure out why it wouldnt work so I switched off a sharred hosting account.

You know, maybe it's because the sites aren't set with a dedicated ip address. I change one to that (have to do it anyway for SSL) and then try.

I checked it, and found that you store is not updated properly and it is using an old version of Client API dll.
You can check the dll versions at Admin -> Help -> About AbleCommerce page.

Please try again. I had another site that I had updated the api yesterday and wasn't able to connect. The site I gave you the login for had only 40 catetories and products to re-do, so they are doing it by hand.
I still can't connect to the one I gave you.
I got the other site with 6500 products taken care of by importing to a test database, then uploading the tables with changed content to the real database after disabling constraints and auto incrementing.

Your provided site is launched on a shared domain or using dedicated IP address? Although it should work in all cases but there may be some configuration issues.

Like I said..I had the same issue and Mike Randolph and I couldnt figure it out. I had the site on a standard sharred hosting account with JoltDigital.

Is there anyway I can debug on your server?
I have one idea, if you please enable tracing in your web.config file.
While I send you an updated dll that I will use to debug the issue.

To enable tracing find the trace tag in web.config and change it to:
<trace localOnly="false"/>

after that you can confirm it is enabled by visiting the url:
http://www.[YOURSITE].com/Trace.axd

I noticed that when exporting products in CSV format, it doesnt include its product template fields and data. Does anyone know how to add the custom fields from product template to CSV for import?

It is not possible to use DataPort to import or export CSV for other fields. You can only import/export the fields mentioned in the CSV template. And it is the basic information.

Hello, I am trying to install the Data Import utility on our development server to play around with the importing functionality. But whenever I try to connect to my site, I get a message that says "Invalid Response From The Server. Unknown Error." I'm sure that I have all of my info entered correctly. Is there anything I can do to get a more descriptive message? I've included a screen print below...

Is your dev server local or a remote shared server? Some of us are having trouble with connection on a remote shared server and there hasn't been a resolution of the problem yet.

There is hope coming for the shared server connection problem. Naveed has been working on it and sent me a patch to test that worked. I'm sure he will be posting the info shortly after he tests it himself on my site.

We have fixed the Login issue of DataPort for shared hosting accounts. May be a new build will be released today or tomorrow.

Very interested in the ablecommerce cart. I need a data client utility such as this one provided, to handle the many variants of product options we have.

Is it possible to get the utility to upload multiple options, and their variants? I have been struggling to get it to work period, just wondering if it has the potential to do what I need.

The newer version of the utility handles options,but you have to use xml upload.

I am trying to upload a few thousand orders worth of legacy/historical data using DataPort version 1.0.0.17. I have built a valid XML input file that works for everything except associating order items to the correct shipment.

Since these are all "new" orders as far as the AbleCommerce store is concerned, I am not putting ID elements in the XML and the import correctly assigns new Ids and matches the nested elements to their correct parents (e.g. Orders show the correct OrderItems).

However, this does not work for the OrderShipmentId on the OrderItem. The OrderShipmentId is set to the OrderShipmentId of the first ordershipment created - for all OrderItems for all Orders in the file.


Any suggestions?
