USPS retiring RateV3 API - upgrade to RateV4 today!

USPS Web Tools will be retiring their RateV3 API on September 28, 2014. We have provided a patch so you can upgrade to RateV4 and avoid any disruption in service.

Will this require name changes to the methods?

And will AC hosted accounts be able to do this themselves, or should I send a request in the pipeline?

Hi Ryan,

I will check on the names, but I don't believe they will change. We will send out a notice to our hosted clients asking them if they need to be updated. This will probably happen a little later this week.

UPDATE: There are no new or modified service names for this USPS RateV3 to RateV4 transition.

You know they'll wait until January for that to happen

Katie, we have patched some sites and the shipping rates for United Kingdom are not being returned, but from this post, it seems like it was a problem before the patch.

(The issue is not the 403 error, you will have to scroll down to compunerdy's post and later posts.

I also tested a Gold site before and after the patch and the problem was there both before and after.
Here is from the debug log

Hey can this update be installed now, or should we wait until the new API changeover occurs on the 28th?

Can you wait until tomorrow or the next day? I'll send out a notice when it's ready. We recently found a couple issues with tracking link, shipping to UK, and a weird issue with package sizes. I have been working on testing to make sure we have everything covered. We also decided to upgrade the international API with the release of the patch. If I could only guess what the USPS service has for us next...

A new update for USPS is available from the help site. The documentation explains exactly what was changed, but basically we decided to upgrade the International API because we figured that USPS would be moving away from that API sometime soon.

Since updating our site with the new API information, we are continuing to get errors obtaining shipping rates. We are currently using GOLD R8.

"Failed to obtain rate quote for the given ship method 'Priority Mail International (6-14 Days)' "
"Failed to obtain rate quote for the given ship method 'Standard Ground (No PO Box)' "
"Failed to obtain rate quote for the given ship method 'Next Day Air Saturday Delivery (order by 1pm)' "

These are the instructions we followed:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The USPS integration requires a new DLL and new CSV file for service name updates.
For AbleCommerce Gold
1. Download: ACGold USPS_Patch_2014.zip
2. Extract DLL file and place in \BIN\ folder.
3. Place the CSV file in the \App_Data\ folder*.
4. Restart IIS or recycle the application pool.

Includes:
\Bin\CommerceBuilder.USPS.dll
version: 7.88.5380
\App_Data\uspsmethods.csv*
dated 9/25/2014

UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS
If you have an existing integration, then you will need to follow these additional steps:
1. From the USPS configuration page, change the Maximum Package Weight to 70 pounds.
2. Change the TRACKING URL to: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmA ... Labels1={0}
3. Go to the USPS shipping methods page.
4. If you are using Media Mail or Library Mail services, then remove them.
5. From the list, select the updated Media Mail and Library Mail services and add them.
6. If desired, select the First-Class Mail (Stamped/Metered) Letter services.
7. Click SAVE when finished.

Any new updates to this? I will be moving towards R9 soon but I need this to work before we can test R9.

I've never heard of these shipping methods for USPS. Are you sure they aren't custom? Most of the shipping method names didn't change in this update (only media mail or library services changed).
