General Search Routine

Hi.
The new GOLD version support searching on certain fields (description, sku, etc...).
a) Is there a list of the fields it seaches?
b) is the search routine available to the public to change?
c) would like to use "Meta Keywords" as part of the search. Is there any configuration or code that we can tap into so that we can add this field to the search fields?
please let me know if you have any info for the above.

If there isn't any info on Able's help site, you could try putting some different non-words in product fields and see if they show up when you search.
