scriptable product and variant uploads in GOLD R5

Hi. I am using GOLD R5. I can upload products and variants from the admin menu data->import->products....
can the products upload process be scriptable? I have a csv of the products table and would like to run a script (command line that mimics the upload screen options/parameters such as override or update etc...) to upload it to the server.
