Upgrading to AbleCommerce Gold

Post by pferro » Tue Nov 05, 2013 3:02 pm

We are currently running version 7.0.3 and I'm looking into upgrading our installations. Are the instruction at http://help.ablecommerce.com/index.htm# ... o_gold.htm valid for precompiled websites?

I'm not 100% certain what you are asking, but the upgrades are simply file replacements and database changes. In almost all cases, the main Commercebuilder.dll would be overwritten during the upgrade. You'll need to upgrade to version 7.0.7 first, and the instructions are posted here:

I hope this answers your question. If not, please let me know.

Hi Katie, I'm new to AbleCommerce so I hope my question make sense. The instructions for upgrading essentially are for upgrading the actual installation. I have the site source files on my local box and use Visual Studio to compile and publish the site and than copy the precompiled site to the IIS server. In this case, I would perform the upgrades on my local box?

Yes, you can upgrade your local version, compile and copy the precompiled site to the server. After doing this, you can access the site and the database will be automatically upgraded. Of course, it's always a good idea to make a complete backup of both the website and database before performing the upgrade.
