Gift certificate email not sending

Has anyone had a problem with Gold and the gift cert email? We are using R6 and when a gift cert is purchased (and completely paid upon checkout) the cert is automatically validated but the email does not send.
The email event trigger is set to Pending gift certificate validated.
Here is the thing if the order is not paid and I mark payment completed in the order, or I mark the cert as validated, then the email does send.

Is there something missing on the payments page? This was working fine on 7.07, any ideas?

Sorry no one responded before now. I did confirm the issue exists in both Gold R6 and R7. I submitted a report to the dev team. Once they have had a chance the review the information, I will try to provide some feedback here.

Is this issue fixed in the new release? or is there a patch for R6? We currently cannot use our give certs at all.

Yes, this issue was fixed in Gold R8. As a work-around, you can validate the Gift Certificate directly from the order by going to the Gift Certificates tab.
