Out of Stock Products w/ Variants Disappearing From Store
Out of Stock Products w/ Variants Disappearing From Store
We have noticed a problem with products with variants that are out of stock.
We generally do not allow back-order on anything in our store. On products with variants, if the "do not allow backorder" is set, variants that are not in stock currently simply do not show as an option on the front-end for our customers.
Customers should be able to see all variants that we carry regardless of whether they are in stock or not.
Maybe we could append "(out of stock) on variants that are out of stock in the dropdown selector.
Also, on the grid display for variants, we need a stock indicator as well.
It would be wonderful if we could get these changes in R9.

I would like to see this done as well.. it is confusing to the customers when options just disappear.

Maybe if they use bootstrap in future versions for their css/js work, then they could use http://getbootstrap.com/css/#forms-control-disabled to control whether a user can select something or not.

^^ It would be great if we got the front-end completely upgraded to HTML5 standards. Using a front-end framework like Bootstrap or Foundation would be amazing.

I seem to recall some complaints in the past about AC showing options that are not in stock and not available for purchase. Merchants said that their customers didn't like that they were selecting options that were shown but not really available. Changing this behavior needs to be a new setting so we can keep everyone happy. Please request it if you haven't already.

There needs to be a happy middle ground which is probably just showing it but adding out of stock to the name.

This would be the happy middle ground I would like as well. I think having it as a setting would be great too, long as we dont have to manually go through every product and set it.There needs to be a happy middle ground which is probably just showing it but adding out of stock to the name.
I will request this now and reference this post.
