I have discovered a concerning issues with specific types of kits.

To replicate:
Create a product and add an up-sell product with a checkbox as the kitting configuration. Here is the configuration:
Now, on the admin side, go to place an order for a customer and add the product to the cart, with the checkbox selected for the add-on

Here you can see the price is shown in cart as expected. Now, when you click continue, you will see the price of the item drop by the upsell product's price(this case is 11.00) Now select a shipping method, and the price will drop another 11.00. Everytime you change methods, it will drop another 11.00.

I had this issue when I first updated from Able 7.0.6 to Gold R9, but after a while I stopped seeing the issue. Not sure what was going on, but eventually it stopped being an issue.

Ok, that has got to be the craziest bug I've seen in a long time. I'm not sure what is broken yet, but I am able to reproduce this by following your kit setup exactly. I'll get this reported right away and see if we can get a patch for you. I'll report back here if I find out anything new as well.

We are still looking into this. I can say that the bug was introduced in Gold R9 and is directly related to a new feature we added - the ability for an admin user to change the price of an item while placing an order for a customer. There seems to be some issue with the recalculation code and all I know at this time is that we don't have a solution except to revert the changes made in the last release. We'll keep working on ideas though...

As a temp work-around, can you add the kit component product separately to the order? That should get you by until we can decide what to do.

Yes we have work-arounds already in place, we just adjust the price or add components separately. Luckily, it only affects the admin-side so far from what we can tell.

With that work-around being available, we would prefer waiting for the fix to the problem and leave the feature in place instead of reverting.

A fix is in process. We will keep the ability to edit product pricing from the admin side, but we'll have to remove this ability for kits only.

Was this fix added in R10 Katie?

Yes, it is corrected in R10.
