Is it possible to allow a registered user to checkout as guest?

If they are already registered, then the email address would be recognized and they would be asked to login. You can request it as a feature, but the only way to get around it now is for the customer to use a different email address.

What about changing out the error messages are displayed then? Problem is, there really isn't a focus to the error messages througuout the store. So when the email is already registered, customers aren't seeing the error and think they are stuck. Even then, it's still a bit combersome to go back and login (espcially when they forget their password). I'd rather just allow them to checkout and then we can always merge the guest user with their email if needed after the order is placed.

This is a serious issue as far as I am concerned. I get a lot of customers having to reset their passwords. They may not come back to our site for a year, they may not even recall they have ordered in the past. They try to checkout and then can't figure out why things have just stopped and they can not proceed. ( because their e-mail was already registered) when they do see the message half the time they will just ....oh forget it I can't deal with that now......sale is gone. I know this happens for a fact. While I want people to sign in it should NEVER be required. They should NEVER be stopped in the middle of checkout and have to leave the site to do some required task. What is the solution?

I don't remember how far back this was changed, but in R12 you can checkout repeatedly as a guest and use the same email address.

Is this an issue with only one page checkout? Because you are first asked for your billing info or login, If you do not login but just put the bulling info in......... and your e-mail address is recognized you get:

The email address you have provided is already registered. Please sign in to access your account.
