Experience with 3rd party email Integrations?

Hello,
Has anyone running Gold had any experiences (good or bad) with trying to tie out the email marketing handling to iContact, Get Response (API 1.5 or 3.0) or Campaign Monitor?
Get Response has one C# example that I've managed to find so far for using their API and Campaign Monitor has a .NET wrapper, but otherwise they all look to involve the same hurdles.
I found an older forum post here about MailChimp being a failed experience, and I'm not interested in Streamsend, so just looking for any other insight/feedback.
