Restrict shipping choices by product

Is there a way to restrict shipping choices by product? I'd like to exclude certain shipping choices for certain items, or to allow certain shipping choices only on a few items.

You can create a new Warehouse and assign the products to that warehouse. Then shipping method can be restricted for products of certain warehouse(s).

Yep the only problem is that if they add another product from a different warehouse (even if it actually ships from the same physical warehouse) it will make the customer pay for two separate shipments. Been waiting on some kind of solution to this problem since 1995.

AC9 has more variety of shipping options and solves this problem. AC has released RC3 of it so far.

Should I be seeing these new options? Because we still cannot get around the problem. I see an addition of a handling charge per item on the product page but that does not help. Sorry we just run up against this all the time. Thanks!

No, the new options are in the new version of AC9, which is out as Release Candidate 3 now. There is information on the AbleCommerce website.
