I have a few questions that will help guide us in determining the best way to set up Auto-reorder (subscription) for our R10 installation.

For subscriptions:
1)What is the reasoning for using a payment gateway detached?
2) Why can't we access trCreateOrdersForDetachedPayments in the Admin user interface under Configure > Store > Subscriptions (given, it appears this is necessary to be set as TRUE for Subscriptions to work)
3) Can we use a custom gateway (not Authorize.net) with tokenization if our gateway does not use recurring payments? <<This would require us to "manually" process orders on our end, but we want to make sure this is ok

Can you rephrase the question? I'm not sure what you mean by "detached". We use Authorize.net CIM because it is the most popular payment gateway for our customers, and they offer CIM (Customer Information Management) which means they are storing the credit card information for the customer.

2) Why can't we access trCreateOrdersForDetachedPayments in the Admin user interface under Configure > Store > Subscriptions (given, it appears this is necessary to be set as TRUE for Subscriptions to work)

You can enable it through the interface. We provide the warning to let you know that Authorize.net CIM gateway must be enabled for the feature to work. It can be turned on without the gateway, but you won't be able to do any real testing of transactions.

Probably, but all your orders will fail processing. You might want to purchase the source so you will have full access to the code. it should make it easier to look at the work we've already done and make it work with the gateway of your choice.
