product import problem

Post by jmestep » Mon Aug 22, 2016 9:24 am

We have a client with around 23,000 products who is trying to update the GTIN field via the data exchange and so far as not been able to do it successfully. I was able to add and then update the products myself on a local site, but I had only a few hundred products. One of the errors he is getting is the following.
2016-08-22 13:49:26,708 ERROR AbleCommerce An error has occured at https://www.ntwonline.com/Admin/DataExc ... mport.aspx

I did see one article on MSDN that mentions checking if (Response.IsClientConnected)
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... ected.aspx

Do you have any suggestions about how to get this error fixed? Or should we recode his admin page to use a delegate for a different thread? (It's been a while since I have worked with any bulk operations like this.
Thanks

Hi Judy,

If you were able to add the products to your local dev site, then it's safe to say that the CSV file is valid for formatting. Assuming you are running the same version of course.

In that case, I would suggest breaking the CSV file into 4-5 parts and trying an import that isn't so huge. If they are doing this during a peak time, then have them try later at night or early morning. I would do that first before trying to make code changes.

Let me know if you have any luck,

Katie

Thanks, Katie. The file itself has only 26 lines. I found out after I posted this that the site has millions of user records from spam bots and we have been deleting those slowly without hurting performance. Someone else has been deleting those, so the client will wait to try the import again after they are gone. Too bad the site is R10 instead of R12 with the spam bot fix. :(

I'm having a similar problem now as well ---

I have a test upload .CSV file with ONE single row to update. And I'm updating TWO fields.... the CSV file is a mere 1 KB in size, and the upload function fails everytime.
Error logs show the same kind of error (although slightly different from Judy's)

I don't see any bloated DB tables (this is actually still in production).

Any thoughts on this? Really frustrating me!

Steve
