mark order shipped without sending confirmation

I have some orders I want to mark as shipped but not have a shipping confirmation sent to that customer. Is there a way to easily prevent that automatic confirmation from going out?

I do not know how but could use that once in awhile as well.

Unless I am not understanding:
You can go to the email template and turn off the order/shipment shipped trigger, but that would be for all time. If you only want it temporarily, you could turn it off, mark those orders as shipped, and turn it back on.
