My question: is that the ONLY reason? The Product Review Reminder service should only be used when the Guest Checkout feature is disabled, as this requires the user to have a registered account for removal.
I have a client interested in the review reminders feature. But 60% of his business uses the guest checkout - so the reminder feature is going to have very limited effectiveness. Our plan is to build a custom page that let's a shopper enter reviews for all of the products on a single order, all in one page. The client customer base tends to buy 3-8 items per order, so this custom page would make it much easier (i.e. more likely) to submit product reviews rather than bouncing from product page to product page to product page.
My concerns are:
1) Will the reminder service still email a guest checkout customer even if product reviews are set to only allow registered users to post a review?
2) Are there any ramifications from allowing guest checkout shoppers to leave product reviews, aside from the possibility of spammers/trolls/etc?
Review reminders will only ever be sent once per order, so the need for a 'unsubscribe' link isn't as strong.
Thoughts?
