Review Reminders and Guest Checkout

So in the online instructions for the review reminders feature, it specifically states:
The Product Review Reminder service should only be used when the Guest Checkout feature is disabled, as this requires the user to have a registered account for removal.
My question: is that the ONLY reason?

I have a client interested in the review reminders feature. But 60% of his business uses the guest checkout - so the reminder feature is going to have very limited effectiveness. Our plan is to build a custom page that let's a shopper enter reviews for all of the products on a single order, all in one page. The client customer base tends to buy 3-8 items per order, so this custom page would make it much easier (i.e. more likely) to submit product reviews rather than bouncing from product page to product page to product page.

My concerns are:

1) Will the reminder service still email a guest checkout customer even if product reviews are set to only allow registered users to post a review?

2) Are there any ramifications from allowing guest checkout shoppers to leave product reviews, aside from the possibility of spammers/trolls/etc?

Review reminders will only ever be sent once per order, so the need for a 'unsubscribe' link isn't as strong.

Thoughts?

Hi Joe,

I'd just enable guest checkout and give it quick test, sounds like more of a recommendation in the documentation rather than something we force. I like the idea of one page with multiple reviews, we may have to implement that in a future release as well.

Thanks Mike, I kinda figured it was mostly a recommendation.

I'll drop a screenshot here once the feature is done.

One additional question (hopefully easier):

Does the Product Review Reminder service include both anonymous checkout and registered user checkout? Looking at the code, I don't see anything filtering by anonymous or registered so I think the answer is 'yes'. But I just wanted to confirm?

The bulk review entry page is nearly done and works nicely. As each review is entered, the row automatically changes from edit to view mode. So the shopper can review some items now and easily return later to see both previously reviewed items and provide review of additional items. Remember this all done by order, so the shopper is only reviewing the items purchased on a specific order.

Going to implement a little better formatting the product thumbnails but otherwise the page is done. Then we'll modify the review control on the product page to show a verified-buyer badge for the reviews by store customers.
