Setting up (Same) Option/Variants for multiple items

I have one option with four variants set up on one test item. I would like to apply this to hundreds of other items. Is there a way to do it with out going into each SKU?

Hi,

Can you tell me more about the option with four variants? For example, do you require that the variants be inventoried or change the product price....

Thanks
Katie

hi Katie,
the variants do affect the product price has nothing to do with inventory.
Here is a screen shot of how it looks on the site and setup.

Hello,

It would be easy to setup this with kitting, which allows a kit component to be shared with many other products. Then if it changes you update just the main component, and all products would be updated.

Create hidden shipping methods as products then use kitting to include these just like you did options.

I was able to get that set up like you suggested, Next step is to try and find the easiest way to apply this to several hundred other Sku's

I tried a data export with out any luck.
Suggestions?

Hi,

It's not possible to export all of the related product information into spreadsheet because the product data is coming from many different tables...and that includes Kits.

But the task won't be as difficult as you might think. From the Kitting tab of a product editing page, click the button "Add Existing Component". Enter the name of the component you created and search. For each component, there will be two icons, one for ATTACH and the other for COPY. Choose ATTACH and the component is shared with the product. Done. If you are savvy with a database then you might be able to write an update query.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Katie,
I did as you suggested and all was going good until I ran into a product that is part of another Kit.

This product is a member of the kits listed below. Kit members may not have kitting options set.
Chevrolet Performance LS3 6.2L Connect & Cruise System W/Manual Transmission Cpsls36Lman : CPSLS36LMAN
Chevrolet Performance LS3 Connect And Cruise Crate Engine Cpsls34L65E : CPSLS34L65E

Any thoughts?
