If you combine two orders in shipstation it will not add tracking to the order that gets consumed (in shipstation) in the combine when you sync status.. is there a way around this?

I'm sorry, but are you asking a question about Shipstation specifically, or how this 'combine feature' is interacting with AbleCommerce?

It's not something we support at this time. There is a note at the bottom of the page you linked that indicates some other selling channels also don't support this feature.
